Assembly Instructions:

To make a pattern for the sides of the frame draw a 12" circle on a sheet of paper, measure down 4" and draw a line across the top of the circle. Using this pattern cut the two sides from 3/4" thick material. Drill a hole 3/8" deep, 5/8" in diameter in each end of the sides. Situate the holes 2" in from the end and 3/4" up from the bottom. Cut two lengths of 5/8" diameter hardwood dowel 12 7/8" long, apply glue to the holes and insert the dowels to join the two sides together as shown in the photo below.

Make the top 12" X 8 1/2" panel, using two or three narrow boards glued together. Cut two dowels 13 3/4" long, then plane a flat side on each of them about 3/4" wide. Drill and countersink two holes in each 2" from the ends. Attach the dowels to top with 1 1/2" long # 8 woodscrews.
